Are you getting your money’s worth? You just might be.

“val·ue/ˈvalyo͞o/ : The regard that something is held to deserve; the importance or preciousness of something: “your support is of great value”.”

As with most things in life, value is something that is quite arbitrary and self defined.  The definition of the term “value” is something that can be easily modified to fit someone’s current level of standards.   What I mean by this is that we all adjust our perception of what we deem valuable based on our current situation.

If I find myself hungry, my assignment of value to a meal may decline to a simple sandwich or, whatever solves the problem of being hungry.  Even though a steak dinner may indeed be a more “valuable” item, the sandwich will suffice for the moment.  The same holds true when it comes to advertising.  Sometimes just getting the message out of our heads is value enough to move on down the road.  Other times, a detailed campaign and strategy is what truly holds the value.  The fact is, only the customer can determine what constitutes a valuable product.  As the experts we have the knowledge and the suggestive influence which allows us to attempt to persuade our clients to make what we consider positive moves towards marketing and advertising.  We bring our collective experiences to bear in an attempt to bring growth and continued profitability to our client’s businesses.  We do our best to overlay our definition of value onto our client’s conciseness with hopes of nurturing a fruitful and long lasting relationship.  At the end of the day, our primary concern is the client and how that client’s target audience perceives them.  This task is not without pitfalls, obstacles  and hurdles.

Our company isn’t one to take shortcuts.  We have made a commitment to ourselves, our clients and our community to do quality work.  We have planted our roots deep in the local talent pool which means everything we do, from our initial discovery process with a new or potential client, through the development process all the way through to our product being on display to the world is home grown and made by hand for that particular client.  It’s not in our clients best interests for us to spend time trying to circumvent the process with shortcuts.

So we are left with a few questions.

Could we utilize shortcuts such as element reuse (the act of reusing bits of previous art or design elements towards future work).  The answer is simple.  Yes we could.  We could copy and paste our way through the process in an effort to speed things up so we could crank out another invoice -OR- we could spend the time developing something completely unique, something completely genuine, and something completely for the client.  None of us got into this industry because we wanted to hot wire the creative process.

True creativity doesn’t lend itself to non-creative methods.

Could we use any of the literally thousands of sites that supply web templates in an effort to jump start the design process and complete the job quicker, thus allowing us to collect payment quicker.  Again, yes we could.  We don’t practice this because a template will never completely define the client’s business.  A template will never completely represent the intentions of the entity being represented.  In other words, it will sell our customer short and possibly prevent them from achieving their complete and full potential.

We refuse to participate in underachievement.

So I guess the point of this post, in short, is to express our unwavering and ongoing commitment to not only help our clients grow and succeed, but to grow and succeed ourselves.  One cannot happen without the other.  It may take more time, but doing things right usually does.

Our clients needs must be met first, as long as we do that we believe the rest will take care of itself.

What are You Worth? Accessing Your Value.

I recently had dialogue with a long standing client that really made
me think. In short, the client compared our quality and value to that
of a “stack ‘em deep and sell ‘em cheap” web templating company.

“Why does your work cost 2 to 3 times more than these other guys?”

We took a good hard look at this question. Why does it cost more?

Here is our conclusion.

WE are custom THEY are not.
——————————–
Meaning: What you get is one of a kind. No knock offs here. If you want
a Coach purse you go to a Coach store – You don’t purchase your “Coach”
bag from a street vendor!

WE don’t outsource to India or the like THEY often times do.
—————————————————————
We don’t outsource overseas. That is a commitment we made a long time
ago to help America grow and not other countries.

WE don’t use templates THEY do.
————————————
We don’t use clipart. We don’t use templates. We are not saying these are
bad things. They may be very well suited for certain clients – just not ours.

Look at it this way. You need to buy new kicks for your basketball team.
You need sneakers that are great – not just good. They need to have the
right amount of support. They need to have been tested. They need to be
built with the latest technology. They need to last. They even need to have
a style of their own, one that matches the team.

Do you go to the Nike store or Wal-Mart?

Our clients go to Nike. They choose custom built, tested, built to last, and
one of a kind products for their needs.

Others, on the other hand, have the option to choose Wal-Mart. They choose
the cheaper route. The generic, just like everybody else, velcro straps instead
of laces kiddy shoes. They may work for a game or two – But THEY don’t last.

He is a 16 year veteran in the advertising and marketing industry. He has been essential in launching countless brands to a national level. We are glad he is on our team. Let’s say it together. “Hip Hop Hooray HO Hey HO!”
